Who'd have Thought?

Earlier this week, Gus and I planned on heading to Alyeska Ski Resort in Girdwood on Saturday regardless of weather.  The latest weather pattern has been wet snow in the the early morning hours and then by the mid-afternoon mostly grey skies in the low 40's melts it away.  The forecast didn't look much better for the weekend, and I wasn't feeling so enthused. I woke up on Saturday morning and the ski was blue.  Who'd have thought?!

Suddenly, I decided an all mountain pass was in order (as opposed to only lower mountain) and we needed to hightail it to the hill and not miss a moment of opportunity for riding the lifts.  Other than stopping for lunch break midafternoon at the top of the hill, we kept at it all day.  In the beginning I was a little faster on my worn out telemark skis, but by the end of the day, Gus picked up some speed and technique on the snowboard and he was pushing me along.  He was feeling quite pleased that he was able to ride down from the top of the hill and it wasn't long before he had a favorite route.
